Due to recent area thefts, The City of Janesville is encouraging residents to lock their vehicles to prevent thefts. Removing valuable items from the vehicle such as purses, keys, and electronics is advised as well because many of the vehicles thefts have occurred in unlocked cars. The City is also asking residents to keep items such as bicycles, lawn equipment, tractors and ATVs in a locked garage or shed or secured with a lock and chain. Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to call law enforcement immediately.
