Monday night in the College Football Playoff Championship Game Alabama won an overtime thriller 26-23 despite switching quarterbacks at halftime. Alabama trailed 13-0 at halftime came back to tie the game and with 3-second remaining missed a field goal that sent the game into overtime. In extra play Georgia hit a 51-yard field goal on their possession and then Alabama went backwards on their first play only to score on a 41-yard pass on their second play from scrimmage to win. Local connection: Alabama junior starting left guard Ross Pierschbacher is a Cedar Falls native.
