Trial Set for Former Rec Superintendent

Trial has been set for Waterloo’s former recreation superintendent, who is accused of stealing from the city, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 52 year old Mark Gallagher pleaded not guilty to one count of second degree Theft. Gallagher, as manager of the Cedar Valley SportsPlex, is accused of falsifying hours for workers, claiming they worked hours they did not. He then collected the checks himself. The scheme allegedly made him more than $7,700. Gallagher was placed on administrative leave on February 3rd and resigned his position on February 11th when police got involved. He also resigned from his position as the head coach of the Waterloo Columbus baseball team.
