U.S. Grows Medal Count Lead

The United States still leads the Olympic Medal Count by 8 medals. The U.S. has 38 total: 16 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze. Adding gold for the Americans Thursday were: Kayla Harrison in Judo, Simone Biles won the gymnastics all around, Ryan Murphy in the 200 meter back stroke, Michael Phelps won the 200 Individual Medley for the 4th straight Olympics and Simone Manuel won the 100 meter freestyle. With Simone Manuel’s gold she becomes the first female African-American swimmer to ever medal.
