Tuesday at the State Baseball Tournament on KWAY Country Waverly-Shell Rock upset 3-seeded Carlisle 8-5. The Go-Hawks began the game on fire by scoring 6 runs in the top of the first. Carlisle would battle back with hits and homers to pull within one run after three innings. In the top of the fourth Waverly-Shell Rock scored two runs to take an 8-5 lead and they never looked back.
The Go-Hawks will play Harlan in the Class 3A Semi-finals at 11:00 on Friday. KWAY Country AM 1470 FM 96.3 will have all the live play-by-play.
In other Class 3A scores Tuesday: Davenport Assumption shutout Bondurant-Farar 5-0, Bishop Heelan edged Solon 3-2 in 8 innings and Harlan outlasted Boone 5-4.
