Monday night in high school basketball Waverly-Shell Rock girls beat Mount Vernon 49-29. The game was tied at halftime, but the Go-Hawk defense dominated in the second half. Waverly-Shell Rock only allowed one field goal and four made free throws in the entire second half. Abbie Draper led the Go-Hawks with 17 points and Britney Young added 15.
The Waverly-Shell Rock versus New Hampton basketball doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday night has been postponed due to the weather. The Go-Hawk boys will play at New Hampton Saturday with varsity at 6:30. The W-SR girls will travel to New Hampton on Monday for a 7:30 varsity tip.
