Wednesday night on KWAY Country the North Polk baseball team beat Waverly-Shell Rock 4-2 to advance to the State Tournament on Monday. The Go-Hawks led 2-0 until giving up 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th on the road. Waverly-Shell Rock finished with a 26-6 record after being 14-15 last season.
Wednesday night in Class 4A Sub-State Championship baseball: West Des Moines Valley broke a 3-3 tie with 6 runs in the 7th inning to beat Cedar Falls 9-3 to advance to State and Waukee beat Waterloo West 2-1 on a walk-off wild pitch to move on.
