A Waverly-Shell Rock 7th grader has died.
Jace Smith had been at Mayo Clinic for over 60 days. He died peacefully Sunday afternoon surrounded by his family. Jace’s younger sister Macy, a 6th grader, has asked that everyone wear red Monday to honor her brother because that was his favorite color.
The school will have counselors available throughout the day to help students and staff cope with the loss.
