Tuesday night in boys’ high school basketball on KWAY Country Charles City beat Waverly-Shell Rock 65-61 in overtime. The Go-Hawks trailed most of the game but clawed back to tie it in regulation with a Luke Velky 3-pointer just before the buzzer. In overtime the Go-Hawks took a two-point lead but turnovers cost them the lead and the game. Jack Molstead of Charles City led all scorers with 22 points and Luke Velky had 18 while Jack Seward added 17 points for Waverly-Shell Rock in the loss.
In girls basketball Waverly-Shell Rock crushed Charles City on the road 64-12.
