Wednesday night the Waverly-Shell Rock baseball team won a share of the Northeast Iowa Conference Championship following a split with Oelwein.
The Go-Hawks won 6-1 in Game One behind 3 doubles, a triple, a home run and 3 singles. Between games we found out that Charles City beat New Hampton 2-1 so the Go-Hawks had earned at least a share of the league title.
In Game Two the Go-Hawks outhit Oelwein but still lost 2-1. New Hampton then beat Charles City in come from behind fashion 4-3 in 10 innings.
The split of the conference title means Waverly-Shell Rock has won 7 crowns in 11 years and New Hampton has won 5 straight.
Waverly-Shell Rock will be back in action Wednesday night as they host Cedar Falls. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 on KWAY Country AM 1470 FM 96.3.
