Monday at the State Tournament the 8-seeded Waspie Valley Warriors shocked the Class 1A field by upsetting top-seed Lake Mills 49-45. Gunner Myer led the Warriors with 19 points. Wapsie Valley will play 4-seeded Montezuma Wednesday at 2:00 in the semi-finals on Y99.3. Win or lose the Warriors will play two more games at State.
In other 1A action: Montezuma beat Martensdale-St. Mary’s 75-50, Bishop Garrigan edged Springville 55-52 and West Fork outlasted Remsen St. Mary’s 55-53. In Class 2A North Linn upset West Sioux 56-51, Treynor beat Pella Christian 69-53 and Boyden-Hull thumped Woodward-Granger 57-26.
