The Wartburg football team has risen in the rankings. The Knights moved from 9th to 7th in the American Football Coaches Association poll.
The American Rivers Conference has recognized four Wartburg student-athletes including the Male and Female Athlete of the Week honors awarded to Joe Freiburger and Carina Collet.
Joe Freiburger and Carina Collet were named the Male and Female Athletes of the Week. They helped guide Wartburg cross country to conference championships on both the men’s and women’s side at the University of Dubuque on Saturday. It was the first time since 2005 that the Knights were champs on both the men’s and women’s side, while the men set a school record with 19 points. Freiburger and Collet both finished first, respectively, marking the first time since 2004 that Wartburg earned MVP awards for both men and women.
Also Kylie Bildstein and Katie Foster swept volleyball weekly honors. Bildstein earned her second Offensive Player of the Week honor in 2019. Foster won her 6th defensive player of the week honors.
