A Waterloo man is headed back to prison for shooting a man in June, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 22 year old Deamonte Buchanan entered an Alford Plea to charges of Intimidation With a Weapon, Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, Going Armed, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Buchanan shot 19 year old D’Meterias Anderson in the arm and abdomen just before midnight on June 11th. He was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison with a five year mandatory minimum before becoming eligible for parole. He must also pay restitution. The shooting came a month after Buchanan was released from prison for his role in a gang-related shooting in June of 2019.
