Iowa Oktoberfest in Waterloo gets started Friday but it will not feature one beer popular in the state, according to KWWL. Busch Light will not be served at the festival following Anheuser-Busch’s decision to cut ties with Carson King, the Iowa State fan raising money for the Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. Anheuser-Busch made their decision after the Des Moines Register decided to run an article in which the journalist dug up offensive twitter posts from King when he was 16 years old. Chad Shipman with Iowa Oktoberfest told KWWL that supporting a fellow Iowan raising money for a good cause was more important to them than supporting a beer product. The journalist from the Des Moines Register story was found to also have offensive twitter posts in his past has since been let go by the paper.
