Daytrell Raymond Pendleton, 26, of Waterloo was taken into custody in connection to a shooting Thursday morning at Kwik Star on Franklin Street.
Pendleton has been charged with attempted murder, a class B felony.
The victim, Andrew Spates, 40, was taken to Unity Point Health, Allen Hospital, where he underwent surgery, and was later transferred to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City where he is listed as critical, but in stable condition.
