The Board of Waverly Child Care & Preschool has entered into an agreement to acquire a 2.2 acre parcel of property directly west of their current location. This sets the stage for a much anticipated expansion project that will enable WCCP to provide quality child care services to more children in the community.
WCCP currently serves over 300 children, but the waiting list for services often exceeds 100 children. Many participants in the recent City of Waverly Strategic Planning Session noted that the shortage of child care in the Waverly area is a substantial barrier to growth in the community. The WCCP Board believes that the purchase of this property, followed by an expansion project of the existing facility will significantly help to address the shortage of child care services in the community.
The WCCP Board will be seeking input and assistance from community members in determining the size, scope and design of a physical expansion as well as the plan for funding the necessary costs of such a project.
