Yesterday morning at approximately 7:14 the Waverly Police Department was notified of an accident involving a train and a pedestrian in the vicinity of Waverly Health Center and WSR High School. Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that a 16-year-old male was struck by the train and was deceased. The incident continues to be investigated by Waverly Police and the CN Railway Police. Further information is being gathered and details will be released at a later time and date.
The name of the deceased is Waverly-Shell Rock sophomore Danny Kruger. Kruger’s church, Grace Baptist Church started a GoFundMe Tuesday night to help the family with funeral costs, other financial burdens and to give his parents time off work to grieve. As of 5:30 Wednesday morning $16,340 has been raised on the website and the church is also accepting checks or cash on site.
