Wednesday at the Girls State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines in Class 1A quarterfinals: Newell-Fonda ran by St. Albert Council Bluffs 77-47, St. Ansgar edged Montezuma 51-46, Bellevue Marquette topped Gehlen 60-53 and Bishop Garrigan beat Martensdale-St. Mary’s 55-46. In Class 2A semi-finals: West Hancock thumped Logan-Magnolia 57-31 and North Linn clipped Western Christian 49-44.
