Ceremonies to welcome back soldiers from overseas deployments are planned for the end of the week in four Iowa cities including Waterloo. Altogether 350 members of the 248th Aviation Support Battalion will be recognized as they return home from assignments in the Central Command Theater of Operations which is comprised of countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. This homecoming will cut the number of Iowa Army National Guard soldiers deployed by more than half.
The celebration in Waterloo will take place on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with soldiers of Company A and Detachment 3, Company B to be honored at the Waterloo Army Aviation Support Facility.
