Randalia Unincorporating

The city of Randalia is in the process of unincorporating, according to KWWL. Officials say years of declining population and funds have forced them into the process. The current population sits at 50. The town’s population peaked in 1950 with 132 people. It fell after that before resurging in 1980 to 101 people. In 2010 there were 68 people. The idea of unincorporating has been discussed several times in the town’s history. City Clerk Katrina Lane calls the decision disappointing, but not entirely surprising. Fayette County leaders will still need to confirm the details but the final decision is expected to come on December 12th.
