A Waterloo woman was hospitalized after a fire broke out at her home on Sunday evening, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. A passerby noticed flames coming from the home at 107 Candlewick Road shortly after 6:00 p.m. The passerby was able to alert the resident who then fled the house. Waterloo Fire crews found a fire, which began on the back porch, making its way into the house. The house is also an in-home daycare. The fire was extinguished and the woman was taken to the hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
