Man Arrested for Impersonating an Officer Again

A Waterloo man who has, on two occasions, claimed to be the Black Hawk County Sheriff, has now been arrested for allegedly impersonating a federal agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. 36 year old Nihad Masic called police at around 4:20 on Tuesday afternoon and told them he was an ATF agent. Police could not track him down until 8:30 p.m. when they found him at the Kwik Star on West Ninth Street. They quickly recognized that he was not with the ATF and they also allegedly found a meth pipe in his pocket. He has been charged with Impersonating a Public Official, Possession of Meth and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was also cited for Trespassing because he had been previously banned from the store. Masic ran for Black Hawk County Sheriff in 2024 but lost. In August and September of last year he allegedly claimed to be the sheriff in an effort to obtain information on a resident of a home and to get a free sandwich from Kwik Star. Trial for those incidents has been set for March.
