The relatives of a Waterloo woman killed by her boyfriend attacked the man in the courtroom during his sentencing on Monday, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 35 year old Lamarcus Williams was convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter in the death of Rebecca Taylor. Taylor’s sister, Monique Todd, was making her way to the witness stand to give a victim impact statement when she veered toward Williams and hit him in the side of the head from behind. As the lone sheriff’s deputy took Todd to the floor, shouts from the gallery rang out and another family member spit a loogy into Williams’ hair. Once more deputies arrived in the courtroom calm was restored and the hearing continued. Williams was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison. That will run consecutively to any sentence for a probation violation as Williams was on probation for choking and threatening Todd with a knife when he choked Todd to death in November of 2022.
