A single vehicle crash in Chickasaw County on Sunday afternoon sent all three occupants to the hospital, according to KWWL. The Iowa State Patrol responded to a location on Highway 18, about a half mile west of Bassett around 3:15pm. They found that the driver of the car, 29 year old Emmanuel Rivera-Castro of New Hampton, was allegedly speeding when he lost control of the vehicle. The car entered the north ditch before it started to roll. It hit a power line pole before coming to a rest in a field. Rivera-Castro was airlifted to MercyOne North Iowa with the two passengers, 27 year old Paloma Ortiz of New Hampton and 41 year old Eliazar Morales of Charles City, were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The severity of their injuries are unknown. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
