A Waterloo resident was killed and two others were injured in a crash in Minnesota on Saturday, according to KWWL. The Mower County Sheriff’s Office says that 69 year old Ignacio Torres Valencia, of Waterloo, was driving southbound when he collided with a northbound pickup truck driven by 60 year old Kenneth Haarstad of Austin, Minnesota. A passenger in the southbound vehicle, 73 year old Ana Farias De Torres, became trapped inside the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at the scene. Torres Valencia suffered serious injuries. Another passenger, 26 year old Giovanni Hilario Torres-Birrueta, and Haarstad both suffered minor injuries. Deputies say weather and roadway conditions contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
