Guatemalan in Waterloo Arrested for ID Theft

A Waterloo man, who is a citizen of Guatemala, has been arrested for allegedly using fake documents and other people’s identifications to apply for jobs and register vehicles, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 28 year old Eber Perez Bail was arrested on Sunday on a 2023 warrant for Identity Theft, Forgery, and third degree Fraud. Investigators with the Iowa Department of Transportation say they became suspicious when Perez Bail attempted to register a Nissan Pathfinder in June of 2023 allegedly using a Social Security number for a former Florida man and a fake Permanent Resident Card. A search of his home in October of 2023 found a fake North Carolina ID card with his photo but another man’s name. He allegedly used that ID card to apply for a job at Packers Sanitation. Perez Bail was initially detained after being pulled over for speeding in Tama County on Saturday.
