The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a jury duty scam. They say some citizens have received calls from individuals claiming to be a member of the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office and that the individual has missed jury duty. The perpetrator then says that the individual can pay a fine over the phone. The scammers call from or give the phone number 319-483-6685, again that number is 319-483-6685, and when you call that number an automated answering service identifies as the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office. Again, this is a scam. The Sheriff’s Office says if you receive these calls to disregard them and never provide any personal information over the phone. When in doubt hang up or call the sheriff’s actual number, 319-352-5400, to verify.
