New Traffic Cameras in Waterloo

The city of Waterloo is placing traffic cameras at seven intersections around the city to protect against red light violators. The city says that those intersections have all seen serious crashes due to drivers disobeying the red light signals. The cameras will go up at Washington St and 6th St, Washington and 11th, Williston Ave and Baltimore St, Broadway and Parker, San Marnan and Shoppers Blvd, Highway 63 and Ridgeway, and US 218 and Shaulis Road. The cameras will officially launch next Friday but as soon as they are installed they will be operational. A grace period during the first two weeks will see warnings issued. The cameras will be paid for by fines issued to violators.
