Officials in Fayette County confirmed last night that a 4-year-old boy died in an accidental shooting in Elgin. The incident occurred Friday afternoon and officials say the boy accidentally shot himself in the head. The boy was taken to the West Union Hospital where he was pronounced dead later that night. The Sheriff said the boy along with his mother and 2 other siblings were visiting relation in Elgin and the adults left the children inside and the gun was fired while they were outside. Fayette County authorities confirmed the gun was legally owned by the homeowner, who was not home at the time.
