A Charles City woman has taken a plea deal after inflicting likely permanent disabilities on a child, according to KIMT. 37 year old Samantha Slaughter pleaded guilty to Child Endangerment and Willful Injury as part of the plea deal. She slammed the child onto the floor, forcefully grabbed the child’s face, force fed them food, shook and jerked their head and face, hit them in the face with the child’s own hands, and forced the child to the floor by grabbing their neck. The child suffered facial bruising and swelling, bleeding in the eyes, and bleeding in the head and brain. Doctors say the child will likely suffer permanent disabilities after they had to remove a part of their skull to prevent compression of the brain and insert a naso-gastric tube for feeding. Slaughter will be sentenced on June 23rd.
