Thursday in high school baseball Waverly-Shell Rock had a dramatic come from behind victory to beat New Hampton 4-3. The Go-Hawks trailed 3-0 and were being no-hit going into the bottom of the 6th. In the 6th the Go-Hawks scored one run and then three runs in the bottom of the 7th when Camry Moore hit a walk-off single to give Waverly-Shell Rock the win. They are now tied for first place in the conference with New Hampton. Friday and Saturday the Go-Hawks will face Ankeny Centennial and Ankeny in the Prange Classic.
Thursday night in area baseball: Waterloo Columbus edged Hudson 2-1, Don Bosco beat Colo-Nesco 11-5, Jesup blanked Sumner-Fredericksburg 4-0, North Butler beat Riceville 9-8 in extras and Wapsie Valley clipped Aplington-Parkersburg 4-3.
The Waverly-Shell Rock softball team continued its dominance of the Northeast Iowa Conference Thursday night as they swept Decorah. Waverly-Shell Rock won 12-5 and 14-0 to remain undefeated in conference play. Friday and Saturday the Go-Hawks will take part in the Linn-Mar/Alburnett Tournament.
In area softball Thursday night: Aplington-Parkersburg beat Wapsie Valley 8-1, Don Bosco topped Colo-Nesco 17-7, Jesup outscored Sumner-Fredericksburg 12-11, Union shutout Dike-New Hartford 4-0, Waterloo East split with Waterloo West winning 12-2 and losing 3-1 and Cedar Rapids Xavier swept Cedar Falls 11-1 and 16-4.
