Monday at the Girls State Tournament on Y99.3 in Class 1A action Janesville lost 60-58 to Turkey Valley. The Wildcats had a 6 point lead when the 2nd ranked Trojans scored the game’s final 8 points capped off by Shelby Reicks go-ahead bucket with 30-seconds left. Reicks finished with 21 points. Janesville was led in the loss by Tori Hazard who scored an incredible 34 points. Janesville finishes the year 24-1.
Other scores from the Girls State Tournament Monday were: in Class 1A, Springville demolished Burlington Nortre Dame 56-16, Kingsley-Pierson edged Bellevue Marquette 65-61 and Exira/Elk Horn-Kimbalton got by Sidney 58-43; in Class 2A, Iowa City Regina beat Logan-Magnolia 67-54, Western Christian topped North Linn 58-48 and Treynor beat Van Meter 60-54. Action continues Tuesday in Des Moines.
