Tuesday night on KWAY Country the Waverly-Shell Rock boys basketball team beat Charles City 72-56 in a battle of top ten teams. The game was 36-33 at half before the Go-Hawks went on a 22-3 run in the 3rd quarter to pull away. Austin Phyfe led all scorers with 30 points to keep W-SR undefeated.
The Go-Hawk girls also beat Charles City Tuesday night 71-22. Payton Draper had 15 points.
Tuesday night on Y99.3 Denver swept Wapsie Valley. The Cyclone girls edged the Warriors 41-40 and the Denver boys won 79-66.
In area boys scores Tuesday night: Aplington-Parkersburg slammed Grundy Center 75-39, Cedar Falls edged Cedar Rapids Kennedy 67-62 in overtime, Dike-New Hartford hammered Sumner-Fredericksburg 74-25, Janesville topped Clarksville 70-47, Jesup clipped Waterloo Columbus 38-34, Tripoli ran by CAL 67-33 and West Central beat Waterloo Christian 66-56.
In area girls scores: Dunkerton thumped Valley Lutheran 65-17, Grundy Center beat Aplington-Parkersburg 49-31, Janesville topped Clarksville 66-26, Jesup hammered Columbus 47-18, Sumner-Fredericksburg outlasted Dike-New Hartford 30-12, Tripoli outscored CAL 75-30 and West Central beat Waterloo Christian 57-16.
