The Wartburg men’s basketball squad tipped off their season victoriously as they defeated the Cornell College Rams 90-77 Tuesday night. The Knights will return to action Saturday as they host Viterbo out of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
Wartburg seniors Dillon Rademaker of Greene and Matt Sacia were named American Rivers Conference weekly top performers. Defensive lineman Dillon Rademaker had 2 sacks and led the league all season with 20 tackles for loss in the conference season. This is Rademaker’s second player of the week honor this year. Quarterback Sacia threw for 341 yards and 3 TD’s in Wartburg’s win over Dubuque. Sacia has been named player of the week four times this season and likely will be the A-R-C MVP. Wartburg will play Bethel Saturday in the NCAA Playoffs and KWAY Country will have the live action.
Wartburg head men’s cross country coach, Ryan Chapman, has been named the Men’s Central Region Coach of the Year. Meanwhile, Wartburg sophomore Carina Collet was named the Central Region Cross-Country Athlete of the Year.
