In area softball Thursday night: Cedar Rapids Jefferson swept Waterloo East 11-8 and 18-0, Waterloo Columbus shutout Aplington-Parkersburg 11-0, Denver beat Sumner-Fredericksburg 5-3, Jesup edged Dike-New Hartford 10-9, North Bulter blanked Turkey Valley 13-0, Uniont slammed Wapsie Valley 12-0 and Cedar Rapids Xavier beat Waterloo West 9-3.
