Wednesday night the Waverly-Shell Rock baseball team had its season ended by Dubuque Wahlert in Sub-State. Wahlert beat Waverly-Shell Rock 2-1 to advance to State. The Go-Hawks jumped to a 1-0 lead on this manufactured run in the 2nd inning.
The Go-Hawks would hold a 1-0 lead until Wahlert got 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to take a 2-1 lead. Interestingly Wahlert has now beat W-SR in 3 Sub-State Championship Games this year winning in basketball, soccer and baseball. Waverly-Shell Rock ends its season with a 25-11 record. The seniors finish their careers with a record of 124 wins 26 losses, 2 conference titles, 2 trips to State and 1 State Championship.
