Thursday night the 6 seeded Wartburg College men’s basketball team defeated 2nd seeded Loras College 92-89 in the semifinal round of the Iowa Conference tournament. The win advances the Knights to the IIAC finals on Saturday against 5th seeded Central. Sophomore Jaran Sabus of Urbandale shattered the previous program record for scoring in an Iowa Conference postseason game with 35 points, his career-best.
The #9 Wartburg women’s basketball team advanced to the Iowa Conference Tournament Championship game with its 82-67 win over Buena Vista Thursday night. The Knights will face second-seed Luther in Levick Arena Saturday at 4:00. This will be the program’s sixth appearance in the tournament championship game and second in three years.
Saturday #1 ranked Wartburg wrestling team will compete in the NCAA Division III Central Regional Championships at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque.
